How can I rename an object without renaming every single one for block generation?

So, I'm generating tons of blocks, first off the grass block. I name it grassblock001 and duplicate, but when I duplicate it, it renames it to grassblock001 (1) when I just want it to rename to grassblock002. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
