Scene window became grayed out for unknown reason
Scene window became all grayed out for unknown reason.
Nothing got displayed, but I can drag and select unseen objects which are still visible in Game Window.
I tried New Scene, new Project, restart, reinstalled, and it wasn't solved.

Im not quite sure if this would help but i think i had a similar problem before..
Try going to the top right of Unity directly above your Inspector and click the drop-down called layers and make sure "Default" is checked.
That's it! I didn't know there was a layer visibility function there. That's exactly what happened!
I know this question is old, but it happened to me as well, using version 2017.3. @$$anonymous$$yleHickman answer also worked for me.
