Character Controller in Javascript

Hey guys, I'm new to unity but an old friend with javascript. I'm trying to make a character controller in js that does this: When the left/right/up/down arrow key is pressed a single time, the character moves at a steady speed to the left/right/forward/backward. Can you guys help me write this?
