how to simulate Water

Hello everyone

I've done the Maya tutorial for simulating water using nDynamics (http://docs.autodesk.com/MAYAUL/2015/ENU/GettingStarted/#!/url=./files/GUID-B5C4A3E4-AA19-4641-B6AC-21B5C7EE94A7.htm) and as it can't be exported as FBX file (apparently dynamics and nDynamics can't be exported as FBX), I'm trying to learn more about the unity particle system.

I've already watch the unity tutorial for particles (explosion and a PIT) but it's totally different with what I'm looking for.

Could you please tell me if Unity is able to simulate water particlse like Maya?

(I'm using Unity5 pro beta 9)

I really thank you in advance for your help

What sort of water: rain, puddles, ocean spray, waterfalls, water in a glass, waves? They'll all require different techniques. I recommend checking out http://scrawkblog.com/2013/08/22/ocean-white-caps-in-unity/ (and the other posts in the "water" category of that blog) for good examples of water simulation in Unity.

thank you for your fast reply :) At first, I would like to simulate water in a glass. Later I would like to be able to do in unity3d what cannot be exported from maya (fur, water particule:water in a glass/manage object in water with waves and so on, nCloth).

As I'm new in $$anonymous$$aya and Unity3d (I watched all live session but I don't really have experience) I don't know what can be exported in fbx file and what cannot be exported.

I've already saw a post in this site saying that everything done in the rendering and nParticles menu in $$anonymous$$aya cannot be exported in the fbx file so I'm trying to find a way to do it directly in Unity3d.

It's worth remembering that $$anonymous$$aya is a modelling and animation tool, Unity is a real-time game engine. Don't expect to be able to use the same techniques or achieve the same results in each.

Thank you for your reply.

Because I'm a beginner in both software, I don't know what can be done in unity and what cannot be done.(same for $$anonymous$$aya)

$$anonymous$$aybe what I'm trying to do is too complicate for my level.

Sorry if my question is stupid and/or out of scope but as everything in $$anonymous$$aya cannot be done in unity (specially nCoth and fur I guess?), does it mean that I have a create the animation in $$anonymous$$aya and baked it during export in order to show the result in Unity(so not in real-time)?
