Unity Indie and Static Shadows
I'm not asking for dynamic shadows. I was just wondering if there is away to get shadows cast from static blocks? They only need to be cast by the sun. I can use blob shadows for all moving objects.

If you're using Maya, you can bake a light-map. There's a tutorial on it here. Otherwise, I don't think it's possible to make shadows like that in Unity without Pro. But then again, I'm not that much of an expert on lighting, so I can't definitively say you can or can't do that.

you can bake your lightmaps with 3d's max or maya. max extension for creating lightmaps in 3d studio max and tutorial to create lightmaps in maya you can create lightmap for terrains inside of unity in Terrain menu. the lightmapper only uses directional light to create the lightmap. so use max or maya.

Yeah, lightmapping's the way to go. There's a great plugin for Sketchup, I believe, but I don't remember what it's called. You can also lightmap with Blender, but it's a pain.
Or, you could wait for Unity 3. It has Beast lightmapping built in, even for Free/Indie, although only Pro gets Global Illu$$anonymous$$ation.
