Hidden UI elements are being shown on play

alt text I'm currently working on the main menu to my project and whenever I hit play, the options menu I created that I have set to hidden is visible until it's exit button is pressed. I've tried searching around but it seems I'm having the opposite problem as a lot of people who can't get their UI assets to be visible. If someone could help me remedy this it'd be a massive help.
