Cannot add blank line to my Unity Answers question?
Gosh, I feel stupid for asking this. How can I write an empty line on UnityAnswers?
I like to separate sections of my questions and answers with a blank line. At best an empty line starts a new paragraph. (I hit enter at the end of this sentence, but it's not starting a new paragraph, at least not in the final output.) Here are 5 blank lines (hit enter 5 times).
End 5 blank lines.
This is a recent bug. Started maybe a month(?) ago. Before that, blank lines were blank lines.
It seems to be a problem with the style sheet. You'll see old answers are also run-ons. They had blanks lines when they were written, for years everyone reading them saw blank lines, and now every post in UA has them all smashed together. If this is ever fixed, everything, including your 5 blank lines, will magically reappear.
Indeed. Was hoping this Q would to let @SaraCecilia know it was an issue. Sorry if a duplicate Q, tried to find another first. (By the way, does Ask an Expert, hang when finding users, for you guys too? Hopefully, the mention of her username here will notify her.)
Not a duplicate. I$$anonymous$$HO, this (the $$anonymous$$ETA area) is the proper place for your Q, and looking at a page or two of is the proper amount of research.
I believe AskAnExpert was retired a year ago. There was a thread (on $$anonymous$$oderators) asking whether anyone else was getting spammed by it from new users.
Another way to add a blank line is a row of about 4 dashes. It's interpreted as a horizontal line. But it, and probably the BR solution, likely will look ugly if the blank lines were ever added back.
Yeah I came to $$anonymous$$ETA to write this question. It was already here. Owen is right tho, temporary fixes now will need to be fixed again later.
what about this? the problem now exists for over half a year? is this actively being investigated or just waited for is it is fixed sometime in the future and if not, not?
Arrg! I'd been using the "official" HT$$anonymous$$L way, which is a paragraph with a non-breaking space (<p> <\p>). But it stopped working -- the nbsp is converted into a real space, so the paragraph is simply ignored. Arrg!
Holy cow! 2+ years, and rather than fixing it; it breaks even worse. Did this affect all your answers from the last 2 years also?

Had this same problem today... You can use the html tag for line break.
As you can see this works.
So to create on empty line in between, add
<br/><br/>
in between the lines.
As others mentioned in comments, This is most likely temporary, and if you do this you might have to modify your answers once this gets fixed again.
Great, so since I'm new and just thought this was part of these crummy forums, I'm going to look like an idiot if they ever fix it.

I use a unicode space ( ) between two empty lines.
Like that.
The markup documentation states this, but two spaces wasn't working for me. The only thing I found that created any space was to use the horizontal rule. I didn't try the html tag though.

I just found another one:
It's a bit extreem tho. But I always forget the xml code that troien provided.
Enter two blank lines, and type the next paragraph. Then go to the second blank line, and add a hyphen. If you try to add the hypen first, it vanishes when you hit enter, lol!
Oh look, this questions birthday is coming up! Pathetic.
