Acces PlatformerCharacter2D script

Hi everyone this is my first question here! I'm using standar assets and the "PlatformCharacter2D" script for using my player. I want to set some values in the script from another script (f.i. speed and jumping force). Is it possible? It's seems i cant instantiate it like all other script i wrote. Why? Thanks to all
