Real-time terrain texture painting
Hello, I am making a metal detecting simulator for my final project in University. I am currently making a shovel tool for digging coins out from the ground. Now I've figured out how to modify and reset my terrain in real-time however when I dig and lower the terrain, the texture does not change.
Could anybody please point me in the right direction with what would be the best approach to a digging mechanic, so that when terrain is lowered, the texture also changes from grass to dirt? Currently the texture also stretches so I guess my solution isn't the best.
Imagine in a game with farming, you can use the hoe to change the ground type, how would I achieve this?
