Can i make a DBZ game and release it legally??
can i make a Dragon ball z game and release it or will i get sued for this?? sry if this is a noob like question i have very low level of knowledge about this kind of things :(
Basically - No.
The IP is owned and used by the owner, who I imagine would have a problem with you creating a game based on any characters, or even having the name, or even just the letters DBZ. Sorry but your best bet is to create a game "inspired" by them, and try to emulate similar characters, but your stuck using original names, and they cannot be very close replicas of actual DBZ characters. At least if you ever plan on releasing it anywhere, ever :P
I am not a lawyer, but I imagine there are some possible legal problems arising even if you plan on making no money whatsoever, just because it might be mistaken for "offical" DBZ stuff... just like if it were any other IP.
You could make whatever you want and just keep it all to yourself :D
Ty for ur reply sir. and one last question. then can i make a game that is almost same as dbz but i'll just alter everything from names to charecter names as i'll name it for example "slippery ball C" and name of the charecters would be "vegetable" and "blonkhu" with my own made up storyline . just copying the them of DBZ and not taking anything that is copyright protected just like a carbon copy with altered storyline and names. would that be legal to release then???
Yes that is all perfectly fine - as long as no names, or extremely similar characters show up, your good to go!
TY very much sir and one more question. is there any way that i can get their permission to make DBZ game?? i mean what should one do in order to make a dbz game legally. or can i make a dbz with a disclaimer and give them all the credit for the things that i used which is copyright protected by them and publish it for free as a fan based game. ty again sir
