Does the company hiring a freelancer need a Plus/Pro license?
I am a freelance Unity developer and I was contracted by a company to make a small game they can sell on their store (alongside other non-game items).
As a freelancer, I make less than $100,000 per year and therefore I use the free license of Unity to make my games. However, this company's revenue is greater that $100,000. And so the question is: Are they required to buy a license?
Some clarifications:
They are not a game development company. I send them the final build of the game to sell. They do not even have Unity installed on their computers.
They do exercise creative control over what I produce, however. They have the final say over what goes into the game.
Ideally, could someone point me to something official that Unity has put out regarding licensing for freelancers or maybe publishers? This situation feels more like a developer/publisher relationship to me.

If you're earning less that $100,000, you can use the software for free. And if your employers are earning above this threshold, the should buy a pro... ethically speaking. But it's normal practice that most companies don't!
My understanding was that you can't mix tier levels. Also are you saying that anyone who wants to publish an already built game should buy a paid license if they are above the threshold?
