Handling Projectiles in a Multiplayer Environment
Greetings,
I'm currently working on a fps game and my current model for handling bullets is using a simple ray cast to determine if a local player hits a remote player. I am wondering if anyone knows or can describe a way to handle a projectile based method.
I am personally having trouble wrapping my head around how to handle this through the server. Any advice is appreciated.
Bonus points to anyone who can explain how to simulate a 'straight' projectile. Using the raycast method you can draw a line from the middle of the camera, this makes bullets go straight while using effects to make it look like they were fired from the weapon. Is their a technique for shooting a projectile in the same manor?
