How to create a 2d animation clip from a sprite
I just want to select the frames, right click or drag or something, to have an animator that I can then add to an existing controler. Until now, I only know how to drag it on the scene, creating a game object and a controler I don't need and have to delete. I mean a simple sprite, not one with multiple parts for feet, hands, head or so.

I finally found a better way to do it. It is quite unnatural and not very well thought, as you have to have an object on the scene to do it. So, you create a game object Make that object without an animator (it does not trust the ones that it did not create?). Select it and open the animation window (not animator) from the windows menu . You will be able to create an initial animator/clip couple there, from an obvious button. You will have to drag and drop the frames on the left panel for the first clip. For the next one, click the header on the left, which actually is a drop down menu. I wish I had read that in the documentation, or at least somewhere on the internet. I found it in a video, which is highly impractical to parse for what I search. And you also need a good understanding of spoken English. Well, know it is written somewhere relevant. The video is here, and the relevant part starts around 6 minutes. This works on unity 5.3.
