Google Play fails to connect on android

Hello,

I am currently working on my first game and some time ago I decided to try to move it from PC to being an Android App. So far everything works just as it should and I didn't run into any trouble. Now I decided to add a leaderboard and it looked like googles Google Play API would do just that. While I'm at it I decided to also add Archivements. So I implemented the Google Play API and when building the code succesfully and moving it to my phone I ran into my first problem.

I made the App connect to Google Play the moment it started the main menu. What happens is that first the "connecting to" and the "Google Play Games" Textbox appear. Next a loading circle appears but at this point it stay for about 1 second and then disappears as if nothing happened.

I also tried to connect using a button. Same problem.

As I got my first android phone just recently it's possible that I made a mistake while setting um my Google Play account but I doubt that.
