UI Button not responding to Clicks or mouse hover

Question

Hi, I have checked so many cases of this I have Event System on the Hierarchy

The but refuses to respond

I was missing the Event System object in the scene.

Check your EventSystem object's input module script, its "Horizontal Axis" and "Vertical Axis" settings should match the names in Edit > Project Settings > Input settings
