Shadow layers in URP not working?
I have a URP project, and I'm trying to make a spotlight that only renders shadows and not the light itself. Looking at URP's light layers and shadow layers support, I decided to try that; however, it doesn't seem to work.
I have three lighting layers: Default, Shadows, and Discarded. I have a light that renders light to the Discarded layer and shadows to the Shadows layer. Then, all the renderers in my scene have a lighting layer mask including both Default and Shadows.
According to the article in the manual, this setup should work. However, I see no shadows when in action. What am I doing wrong? Is this even possible do to?
The light will still need to hit something because shadows are simply the absence of light - have you made sure that your shadow receiver is still receiving light?
Yes, it's receiving the global environmental lighting. Do I need another light? I'm trying to avoid global lights, as to avoid washing-out problems.
