Low gameplay performance on Unity 5 Editor

I just converted my Unity 4.5 project into Unity 5 which is a simple 2D game. Android builds work well at 60 FPS like before, but when I press play in the unity editor I get 30 FPS. However, when I enable "Maximize on Play" I get 60 FPS.

I am using a MacBook Pro Later 2014 and Unity 5.0.0f4 Personal....

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Yep, I have the same issue. Latest version of Unity 4.6, the editor runs twice the frame rate for my game than Unity 5.

The only way i've managed to speed up Unity 5 is by removing some none game views or maximizing of play as you found.

I just had the same problem.

I got my frame rate up by lowering the Editor's quality settings down to Good.

Edit -> Project Settings -> Quality

Then click on the setting name (ie "Fastest", "Fast", "Simple", "Good"). That row will get highlighted, and that's the quality setting the editor will use when you click Play.
