About unity infringement

Say I made a website and put some unity web games up on there that I have made with unity free. And then charged people to be using my site say £1 a month and classed that as money to pay for services like the dedicated server that is running the website.

Would I need to buy unity pro because they would think I am selling my games rather than getting the money to pay for services ?.

Good question, but as far as i know we didn't have such a question before. $$anonymous$$aybe someone from the Unity staff sees this here but you should contact the Unity sales support for such questions i think.

Btw. As you might read on the licences page and the End User Licence page with Unity Free you can sell your games as long as your companies yearly turnover don't exceeds $100,000.-

If it does, you should have enough money to buy pro or any other licencing model.

I'm also just a indy-developer and this site is mainly ment / used for questions about development and not distribution. $$anonymous$$ost users can't tell you something about this stuff, however the question is a good one and it's about Unity ;)

Hopefully we get a true answer from someone with more insight. If you find any useful information on this topic, please post an answer yourself to help others.

Thank you for the reply Bunny, It helped to realise more about the free licence than I had known. I have emailed sales and will put the reply I get from sales here in the question. So that everybody can see it, hopefully it will help others.

There's never been any kind of limitation as to what you can do with projects that you made with the free license. It's 100% free, with the only string attached being that you need to buy Pro if you made $100,000 in the previous fiscal year (which is not exactly onerous...).

By the way unity reads your website(your company) will make money, if you make over 100,000$ US then you will need to buy the pro version.

Here is part of the e-mail I got back from the sales team, hope this helps other people.

In that case you can indeed sell your games as stipulated on the FAQ link below.

You don't need to buy Unity Pro unless there are features there you need.
