Dynamic Shadows not working
Hey! I'm checking the Unity Pro trial period... for some reason, I can't get dynamic shadows to work. I've set a plane and a cube, both to receive and cast shadows... plus a directional light, which has been tried with both hard and soft shadows... I've tried with different rendering path settings as well.
I'm working on a laptop with a dedicated GT-735M. Oddly enough, when I try it out on my Mac, it works right away.
Any troubleshooting ideas?
Just a thought… are you previewing from a distance greater than what is set in Edit/Project Settings/Quality/Shadow Distance ?
Nope, shadow distance settings have been triple checked.
I have arrived to the conclusion it has something to do with DirectX.
Since it did work on my $$anonymous$$ac, and Unity for OSX uses OpenGL, I tried the -force-opengl argument when running it, and it worked!
Now I've just got to see what's going on with DirectX...
Also check to see whether the game is on an appropriate quality level to display shadows.
Yeah... quality settings were covered as well... reinstalled nVidia drivers, nothing happened but it was worth the shot. Now on to more DX11 troubleshooting, as I also confirmed that if I uncheck "Use Direct3D 11" in Player Settings, dynamic shadows will work even without forcing OpenGL.
