Question by CH Creator · Jun 01, 2016 at 02:44 PM · animationaudiovideobrowser

Can this browser game be done in Unity?

Hello,

I'm new to Unity3D. I have an idea for a browser game, and would like to know if it could be made with Unity, and if so, how.

Here is the project:

Develop a simple browser game, using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and Canvas/SVG or similar technology.

The game consists of adding a visual/audio sound track and texts on top of a playing video. The user records the sounds and graphics in real-time using keyboard and mouse. After recording, he must be able to edit his audio/video track and add various texts.

The result should be a new MP4, where the added graphics and audio is embedded on top of the original video.

The webserver will use ASP.NET MVC environment on the back-end.

Questions: - Can this game be made with Unity? - Which version of Unity? (I'm guessing WebGL / WebPlayer) - Is it pure front-end?

I have posted a job for this on Freelancer.com. If you are interested, please apply here

Thank you, CH Creator

Does that 3rd paragraph "using html5, ... " have any meaning? Obviously, Unity isn't html5, css3 or javascript. So are you asking if Unity counts as "or similar technology?" This almost sounds like a homework assignment, where that's a just-because requirement - so you'd just have to ask the assigner whether Unity is allowed.

Hi @owen-reynolds,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry if the text is unclear.

Basically, I'm just looking for the best technology for making this browser-game. $$anonymous$$y initial idea was to use Html5, Css3 and javascript with Canvas or SVG, but I have been searching for better ways to do it, and came across Unity. I'm interested in Unity because the coding language is C#, which I already know, but it's unclear to me if Unity has the capabilities needed for this project.

It's not a homework assignment. Any technology that can overlay animation on a video and be finalized into a single mp4-file is usable, as long as it is browser based and works in all the major desktop browsers.

Regards
