Text appearing letter by letter with animation on each letter?

Hey I'm trying to make some text appear with a cool letter by letter effect BUT with each letter animated separately. By that I mean I already tried the AutoType script found here , but this method doesn't allow me to isolate each letter and make a lerp on scale, color , etc. when they appear.

Basically I'm trying to achieve an effect similar to what you can see in Super Mario Sunshine's dialog UI (there's a very subtle alpha lerp on each letter) or in Burrito Galaxy 65 (which is a pretty extreme example, but I'm completely amazed by their text effects)

Any ideas on how I can do this?
