When to create a new scene?

Hello,

currently I'm working on my first game. It's a very simple puzzle to learn the basics.

I got my first level but now I'm thinking about if I should create a new scene for new levels (small areas that take about 2 minutes to play I guess) or place many of those in my existing scene.

Actually I don't really understand when to use new scenes.

Hopefully you can give some tips or even references to any ressource.

I feel your answer lies more into game design than anything else for now.

My answer will be that it depends on the type of game you are designing. If its a single camera view and it serves no purpose any more and you don't want to deal with code to reset all game elements to a new state for the 'next level' as well as manually reset all variable values and such, then I guess you are better with loading a new scene, that will have all that automatically care of on your behalf.

Again, while you are learning the basics I feel you will be better with a new scene and loading it. Once you start getting more advanced then you can start resetting things around and experimenting for more performance and stuff. However this matter is very subjective stuff :)
