I have HAD IT with lighting
I HAVE ABSOLUTLY HAD IT WITH LIGHTING!
Sorry, I'm just pretty frustrated right now because I have spent over 5+ hours trying to figure out lighting... Yes, I know there are duplicate questions but none and I mean NONE of them work.
My aim was to make a game about Jedi duelling and I want the lightsabres to emit light, oh boy, and that's where the fun begins, immediately I try to do emission with a material, I quickly figured out it didn't glow, it just made it visible in the dark, then I tried putting an area light on the sabre, realised it worked for ONLY baked lighting, so I put a lot of directional lights around each other in different directions but it didn't go so well, (very unnatural and lit up the wrong places) so then I started my hour long search for solutions on the internet. Eventually I found out about MK light, I found that MK light was no longer free, so I pirated it (I know, I'm sorry, maybe the next parts are just karma) and then I realised, there were no tutorials on the new version so I try to figure it out myself and eventually found out from the user manual, it STILL did not work, And then I take another hour (keep in mind that up to this point, I have using Unity 2019.4 in a 3d project with no URP or any extras). Now I try post processing (bloom) with emission, Finally I had some kind of glow, but it still didn't light up the room. This is where I switch to URP, I find another tutorial specifically for lightsabres, so I watch it and copy it word for word, doesn't work, I mean, it does have a pretty nice glow effect but it still did not light up the ground, now I try light probes and making the ground static and I don't know what to do anymore...
All I want is my glowing lightsabre to light up other objects, I never new it was this hard. So do I switch back to normal 3d or what?
Also, sorry about the passive-aggressive tone.
