Swapping Textures While Offsetting Them
I am developing a 2D game similar to DoodleJump where the player is a sprite on screen and it jumps vertically from object to object.
The way I have it set up right now is that the camera follows the user up as they jump, stopping at the players maximum height value each time they jump.
For this example lets just say the player is jumping up a tree. What I would like to do is have a tree background texture repeat until the player reaches a certain height, and then transitions to another, different, image of the tree, and then repeat that texture. I would like to continue this until the player reaches a set distance and then show the top of the tree.
I have been able to make an object with a tiled texture on it and just change the offset as the camera moves up, but I cannot figure out how to, once the player hits that height threshold, transition to another image.
Any help would be appreciated, and if something isn't clear, let me know and I'll try and clarify.
Thanks in advanced for all the help.
