Unity anim files broken after import.
OK so we gave our animators a copy of the Unity project to make anim files and give them to us when they are ready. When I drag them into the project they have an assortment of strange errors.
They anim file says the rotation of our object is missing even though they are correct in the hierarchy. The position can still be found.
The anim actually runs fine despite the missing rotations error as long as you don't try to edit it. If you change anything about it, it stops running.
The final weird thing about these broken anim files is that if I unfocus from the animation window/unselect the record button, my character will have its default position set to the frame it was on when I unfocused. So now my character's positions and rotations are changed outside of the animation and I have to revert to the prefab value.
Things I have tried to fix this:
Re-importing the anim file in Unity
Rebuilding the Library folder
Checking out the text file of the anim. Nothing looks off but also not entirely sure what I am looking for.
One thing I will additionally mention is that they upload the file to Google Drive to get it to us, could that do it? I'll attach some screenshots.
Here is what the animation pane shows on one of the broken anim files. The hierarchy is correct. Here is a shot of my character now being frozen in the frame I turned off recording in the animation pane. This is now her default state.
UPDATE: Tried Unity's Export/Import package functionality, same problem.
UPDATE: Tried copy/pasting the file in case it was read-only for some reason, no dice
