Area lighting causes very wierd oversized shadows.
For the past few days I've been trying to improve my project by better understanding lightmapping, and lighting in general. However I've been facing a problem recently of where area lights cause very coarse pixelated shadows on mesh objects when I bake the scene lighting. Being a fairly new and low-understanding person when it comes to lighting, I've until recently relied on baked HDR planes as my light sources. Wanting to improve my lighting game I've tried different solutions for a long time with faulty results. Area lights however seem to mostly do the trick, despite there being these weird shadows.
Anyone know what may be causing these weird shadows? (see picture) or better so if there is something I'm clearly not getting when it comes to lighting.
Attached is my general lightmapping profile, and a picture of the shadows
Have you tried some non-deprecated lightmapper? I'd test the other one. Post the screenshot after, I am interested in the difference
