Blender Detailed Texture Export Not Working

So I followed this tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzXNZkEoTAk - and made a blender plane with a brick texture from it. However whenever i save it as a blend file the saved file wont open in blender or it will but it wont show up in the scene view plz help!!
