Particle System Still Emitting Particles Even If Emission Is 0
So I'm making a game where the pen is bouncing around and writing. When the pen is clicked it is supposed to "draw" on the background using a particle system with trails and then if it is unclicked it is not supposed to "draw." The problem is I don't want all the past trails to go away when the pen gets unclicked and if I change the emission over time to 0 it is still leaving marking. Does anyone know how to make it leave trails sometimes but not other times while keeping all the past trails?,
