subdivision
Hello, I heard Unity does not support subdivisions. Is that correct? I work on Modo and was hoping to export an object to Unity; that will end up on a game console. Can anyone help me understand this process. For example how would I make my object look rounded and organic if subdivision is not supported. Any good references out there?
Thank you very much.
You use normal maps for that, usually. Subdivision is very CPU-intensive, and as such is not appropriate for real-time applications (such as Unity). If you need subdivision to create your mesh, go ahead- but make sure you 'bake' it down to a high-detail mesh before exporting it, so that Unity only sees the resultant mesh.
