Question by temptest123 · Dec 14, 2012 at 03:06 PM · iostexturecompressionpvrtc

How to chose between 2bbp and 4bbp PVRTC in an iOS project?

there is the 'compression quality' option on textures, but this http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/228656/unity-35-new-compression-quality-setting-in-ios-pv.html thread states that the compression quality setting doesn't determine the compression format, but only the quality of the compression algorithm.

So - how can i chose whether a texture should be compressed in PVRTC 2bbp format, or in PVRTC4bbp format?

thanks!

Are you asking which one you should choose, or how to actually choose the setting?

I ask how to choose the setting. I have only the following format settings available on each texture: - Compressed - 16 bits - True Color

I use Unity 4.0 with iOS Pro demo

Select the texture in the Project window and select Advanced as the texture type in the Inspector window for the texture.

Now you will see options for 2bpp and 4bpp
