IK for Precise Parrying Animations - Sword Combat System
Hi, I'd like to know if anyone has ever used IK in combat system scenarios to make it more believable. For example: Two players fight with swords. One player attacks, one player defends. The game registers a parry, but from the player's point of view, the swords never actually hit. This is usually because of larger hitboxes. But even if they hit, they'd pass through each other and not create a believable nor a rather immersive combat scenario. Think Skyrim where sometimes the animations make the swords pass through shields etc.
Any and all help would be appreciated. The combat system for the game I'm working on is so central it has to feel literally amazing. If IK is the way, or there's another solution I'm all ears!
