Unity Answers Spaces
Hi, I'm new to Unity. I've explored Unity Answers, and I don't understand the idea of spaces. What are the Default, Help, META, and Moderators spaces? I tried reading the FAQ and the Navigation Help but I still don't get it. Thanks in advance.

Unity Answers is based off of the popular site StackExchange. If you go there and select GameDevelopment, there's one place to ask Q's. Easy, right? But if you click on the far right there's a hidden place called "Game Dev META". That's to talk about how to run the gameDev area: what type of questions to reject, what tags to add or remove, and so on. It's mostly moderators there, since it's about how to moderate the site, but new users can also complain there.
Unity Answers copied that but decided to break META into META and Moderators, just because. They're pretty much both the same -- talk about how to run the site. The thing with "Spaces" just over-complicates it. We could have had just "Unity Answers" with small buttons to META and Moderators. But we have a dropdown. That's why just regular Unity Answers is called "Default". We had to cal it something and "this is the real site" was too long.
The Help Room was added much later and the rules were never worked out. The problem was since Unity is free, people with no experience started clogging Unity Answers with super basic Q's. We figured we'd make another area just for them. So sort, of, Help Room is for people with less experience who want personal help, and Default is for "good" questions. But the moderators don't agree on the rules (some don't think there should have even been a Help Room).
Oh wow, thanks for your detailed answer! I get it now. I'm just a little confused what's the difference between general and help because I see people asking for help in the General Space.
The rules for Help Vs. General were never worked out. The people who made it are long gone so there never will be rules. Some moderators answer Help Q's in the Default space, some move them to HelpRoom, and some delete them. Some mods even delete Help questions from the HelpRoom (since some old rules say personal-help Q's are never allowed).
$$anonymous$$hm. I see that more people answer questions in the General Space, rather than in the Help Room.

Well this for example belongs in META because its about the answers page.
Default is for general questions with definite answers, moderators is for moderators to discuss moderation and help is to request help.
NOTE: I moved this to meta because this should probably be better explained somewhere more visible.
