Is it dangerous to push or pull from a git repository while unity has the repository open?
today, my coworker warned me that if you push or pull while unity is open, that the files may get corrupted if the file is open in a background process. Do I need to be worrying about this?
I thought at first "shouldn't files in use be locked?" But then I thought maybe writing to a file that is currently being read might crash Unity. Even so, I didn't think that would lead to a corrupt state where unity wouldn't load.
We were discussing this because a commit prevented unity from loading because a prefab in the project referred to assets and meta files that were not in the project. I thought this would lead to just an empty prefab, but for some reason it was crashing. I will test it more tomorrow
