Question by DylanW · Oct 18, 2013 at 08:03 AM · guitextureplane2d platformer

2D Platformer - Plane/GUITexture/or?

In terms of efficiency, which is the best choice to use to make a 2D Platformer game? Please explain.

  • Plane

  • GUITexture

  • What else?

In other words, what should I be using for my 2D characters, objects, monsters, and etc? Should I use plane?

Planes are better.

  1. Easy to transform

  2. Easy to batch render

  3. Pixel perfect output

  4. Reduced draw calls

All of the above. Mix it up for best results :P

Remember though, GUI elements can't collide.

Oh yes, just remembered, the Shuriken Particle system has got a sprite sheet animator. That could be great for 2D games.
