Can't create new project

I recently tried to create a NEW project in unity and got the error: "failed to load window layout". I tried the trick where I just opened another instance of unity but it says I have another instance open with an OLD project that I don't even have anymore: alt text

Any idea how to fix this? I just want to start a new project.

Are you using the most recent version of Unity?

I'm using the latest beta version. I get the same error if I uninstall and install the latest stable build though.
