How Do you stop audio of another app?

My Android app contains audio narration and I'd like to stop or pause the audio stream of another app (Pandora, MyMusic, ect...) when my app launches so the user can hear the instructions. Does anyone know a way to go about this? I would have thought that it was something "built in to" the Android OS but, sadly, it is not.
