How to approach a tube full of tentacles?
Hello, I've been asked to make what would look like a tube full of kind of tentacles in its interior walls. So the tube will be animated in a wave style along its section and also all those tentacles will flow.
So I was thinking of a grass like approach using Unitys wind system, but I don't know if this is the best bet even if it is possible, because al those tentacles have to be 3d.
To put it harder, at some point some of those will deform and its colour will also shift.
What do you think it's best to get this done?

As you see, the intestine stretches and expands in a waving like motion. Apart from that, in a detailed view the illea (all those small tentacles that look like a rug) moves like grass in the wind.
So I need a way to put milliards of those tentacles that wave in a non terrain shape that also deforms itself.
oh boy... I don't think that this can be done realtime. The first thing that comes to my $$anonymous$$d is using a tesselation shader with an additional waving algorithm, if that's even possible... To be honest, I commented and have no clue :)
