input system InvalidOperationException when unplugging the controller

Hi we're using the LTS version 2019.4.13 and the input system 1.0 and have encountered an issue when the user switches off the controller while holding a button on the controller.

InvalidOperationException: Cannot query value of control '/DualShock4GamepadHID/buttonNorth' before 'DualShock4GamepadHID' has been added to system!

Any ideas for a workaround?
