Using smartphone as controller. How do I send/receive button states?

Hello,

so I am trying to move an object in the editor using my smartphone. I used this tutuorial for the basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvqQJgj2XMM. My problem is, that the tutorial only explains how I send and receive the value of an axis, but I want to use buttons, too. Is anybody familiar with thhis tutorial/method and can help me out? I was able to connect my phone and move stuff with the touch joystick, but I have no idea how I can use buttons.

You mean, you have buttons on your smartphone, and want to trigger some events when you press them?

What kind of buttons? Volume UP/Down? or What?
