Mirror: Connecting android mobile devices together?
Recently, I started a multiplayer game in Unity and decided to check out Unity's documentation on the Network class, which, to my surprise, is now obsolete, as well as their multiplayer HPLAYI package being deprecated. So I looked for a third-party application (as usual) and stumbled across Mirror.
In the Unity multiplayer package, they had a feature called Match Making which would allow a connection between devices locally or over internet, which was perfect for my mobile connection problem, as it meant that I could connect two mobile devices over LAN, as well as a connection between my computer server and my mobile device, which was great. However, since their package is almost unusable (I cant change the tiny GUI and any normal unity scripting isn't possible inside the scripts) I looked to see if Mirror had the solution. Unfortunately, from what I know, Mirror doesn't include matchmaking in their asset so I was unable to connect my android devices together. A connection from my PC to my phone works, as I am able to get the IP of the phone, but a connection from my phone to my PC doesn't, despite me having access to both IPs. No connection between two android devices either.
So my questions are:
1. Does Mirror have a similar matchmaking service like the one Unity had in their deprecated package
2. If not, is there a reason why my PC can connect to my phone but not vice versa, and can someone guide me on how to establish a connection between two android devices with Mirror
Thanks for your help!
So if anyone is looking to find a solution to this, know that mirror doesnt work as well as photon when it comes to mobile networking. Photon PUN free (on the asset store) provides matchmaking as well as simple connection between computer servers and android devices and many other platforms.
