I cant see my gun its clipping through my camera

Hi there I am using the FPS controller and i have a gun places close to the camera but i cant see it because its too close to the camera i cant put the gun further away because it looks silly and i have set the camera near clipping planes to as low as possible and i still cant see it how do i get the fps effect i'm looking for ?!
