Standard way to set RGB color as alpha
I'm using some dated textures that would be easy to convert, however I want to keep the format of these textures the same. These textures use the color of one pixel specified in the name of the texture as the alpha. For example A00
should use the color of the first pixel in the texture (top-left) as the alpha for the whole texture. Is there a standard way to do this or will I need to use a shader?
Going to call myself out... This could be an existing answer, but I wanted to see if anything has changed since 2015:
