Possible to have Render Texture on 3D Object?
The effect I'm going for is to make an object invisible but have everything behind it, except for the skybox, be invisible. This video is a good example of what I'm aiming for. Look at the sword and character's footsteps for the effect:
Guild Wars 2 Twilight Greatsward
Essentially, I'd like to render the scene skybox on a few of the objects in the scene as if the objects were a mask for everything behind them except the/a skybox. I tried using a Render texture on a sphere with a camera that copied the game camera's rotation but that didn't work. Didn't work for a plane either. I think I might need to use a shader but don't know where to begin. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
I think for an affect like that, can simply just be increasing the Glossiness of your material to 1, and it should reflect your Skybox regardless
