Program for 2D drawing?
Wanting to make a simple 2D platformer. I don’t like using other people’s animations because I feel like I learn better doing it myself. In tutorials people always mention that it’s better to do it yourself but never tell what they use. So my question is what programs are comparable with unity that I can use to make 2D sprites and characters. Thanks in advanced.
Any program that exports files as PNGs or another graphic format Unity supports is ok, which is pretty much all of them as far as raster graphics are concered. This question would probably be better suited to the Unity 2D subforum or a specialized forum like Pixelation.org since it is too argumentative.
Photoshop or GI$$anonymous$$P for everything and any cheap program that supports tiling images and animation previews for animated sprites and tiles. I bought Pyxel Edit via HumbleBundle when it had a sale but there are various programs that are fairly similar. Check Pixelation, it has at least one thread on that topic.

I recommend PiskelApp if you easily want to make simple 2D sprites and characters: https://www.piskelapp.com/ If you want to pixelate a real picture and put it into pixels, use LunaPic: https://www140.lunapic.com/editor/?action=pixels
