After upgrading from 2017.3.1 to 2018.2, the editor is slow and looks different

I tried upgrading to 2018.2 recently and the editor now looks like it's too large and not well-proportioned. The fonts in my game have also become blurry.

Here are some comparison images:

2017.3.1 alt text 2018.2 It seems like some compatibility issue with my display settings. I tried messing with the DPI scaling settings and compatibility settings but that didn't yield any change in 2018.2's editor.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

I've been using nearly every version, upgrading all the time and never experienced this. reinstalling the editor might help
