Question by carter-carl30 · May 26, 2012 at 10:12 PM · physicstiltroll

android roll a ball question (SOLVED)

I am testing a simple setup for a roll a ball game using tilt controls.

It all seems to work fine, rolls around great when I tilt but, I have made 2 ramps approx 45 degree angle.

When I try to roll the ball up or down these my ball bounces up into the air! I have no idea why this is happening can anyone give me any insights?

I am using rigid bodies on the ball and ramps.

If the ramps are static, I don't think you want to add RigidBodies to them. It is my understanding that RigidBodies are only needed to be on objects that are effected by physics.

I have exactly the same problem and my ball gets stuck in the floor

Are you making it go up (^) or forward (>) ? Also post your code so we can test it ourselves.

EDIT: By the way make sure the physics material isn't set to bouncy.

@$$anonymous$$olban, thankyou, I fixed this by removing the rigid bodies from the ramps and tinkering with the physics settings :)

I have no code as it is just the standard "roll a ball" prefab from unity. I want to be able to roll up and down this ramp (see attached picture)

the physics material of my ball is set to metal, same for the ramp.
