Character starts halfway into ground out of play mode.

As soon as I click into play mode though he immediately goes back up into the normal idle pose. He moves around fine and everything and when I click out of play mode, he goes right back into the center of the ground in that half fall state. I believe this originally happened when I attached a canvas to the character and tried to put an animation on the text above him. I since deleted that in hopes that it'd go back but it hasn't so far. Every animation on the animator controller has an animation. I've checked every other post on this that I could find and none have the answer.
1) post your character inspector setup 2)why on earth would you attach canvas to the character? use Text$$anonymous$$esh for displaying text in game world
I couldn't figure out how to do it with textmesh the way I wanted to I used a canvas style I saw in a tutorial. I think a possible, worst case scenario fix could be just make a whole new gameobject and reattach everything. Here's what it looks like though. http://puu.sh/q6foW/7ae9a16695.png
I may just go remake it at some point, because it doesn't affect gameplay it just looks annoying.
it's probably the animation - once you hit "play" it starts and moves the character to the correct position. why can't you just move the character to the proper position and customize it's collider position to match the mesh?
