Prefab dependent on original prefab?
How come unpacked Prefabs are still dependent on the original prefab?
I've typed out the problem here but I also recorded the process and posted the video here: https://youtu.be/tMifmYQ-L28
-When I import a model from Blender, it won't let me import it with the texture map. (I'm exploring other export settings and hopefully find a way to import meshes WITH the texture maps, but either way, I want to better understand how Prefabs work)
-So I create a material with the texture map, but I can't apply it to a Prefab in the Project folder. I can only add it to an INSTANCE of a prefab in the hierarchy. So I pull the imported model prefab into the hierarchy and assign the texture map material to the prefab instance.
-But, for the purposes of spawning prefabs, I want an updated prefab with the texture map. So I unpack the prefab, then I drag the new unpacked instance of the prefab into the Project Folder to make a new Prefab.
-BUT when I delete the OLD imported prefab, it breaks my new prefab.
What's the correct workflow here? How do I make a nice clean Prefab without multiple versions of the same prefab? Thank you!!
