Showing/Rendering only whats visible from a Point in 3D Space
Im currently planning out a 3D turn based game with free camera where a player can move around a character. The thing is, I would like the player's camera to only render/show what is visible from the player's character's point of view. While I know my way around Unity quite well, i've never touched shading. I thought about other ways to solve this (by dynamically creating meshes to block out what should not be visible for the player) but gave up on them eventually.
So now im stuck with the goal of having to create a shader doing this job for me. So i just thought (before ill spend a lot of time learning all that stuff) that someone maybe already dealt with such a problem and can help me out? Any help or ideas would be appreciated! (Keep in mind that the Game is in 3D, so e.g. it's also important that the player cant look down a ledge if not actually approaching the drop.)
