Performance Impact - Anima 2D or Sprite Animation?
Android game. Human models, around 30 on screen at one time. Will shoot, run and idle.
Currently prototyping with Unity Anima 2D. This is definitely the route I want to take, as I can see that it will save me months of animation.
However I'm worried about the performance impact. At this stage I'm just making sprites and doing some of their animations, so I can't test properly. Never worked with either method before so I have no reference.
As a general rule how much will using bone animations and inverse kinematics (baked) cost me? The human models will only be around 200 px tall, leaving room to shave off detail, so any tips on optimising the animations are appreciated.
